With cargo thefts on the rise it is imperative to know where your shipments are, especially when arranging for high value and sensitive loads. Today there are many products and services available to provide tracking and report deviations from intended routes. To encourage you to make use of available technologies and help defray the cost of doing so, we are introducing a new split deductible feature. If tracking devices are properly utilized and the appropriate action is promptly taken when alarms occur, your deductible will be reduced by half.
Identity fraud takes many forms and can be perpetrated by strangers, long time employees or business contacts. When your identity is compromised, it will inevitably require a great deal of time and effort to set the record straight and protect your good name. We are pleased to announce a new coverage enhancement that will provide reimbursement for expenses necessary to restore your good name and also for attorney fees to defend against suits arising from the fraud.
The basic contingent cargo endorsement has always excluded dishonest acts committed by you, your employees, and agents. In the past, many transportation brokers have opted to purchase the dishonest acts of carriers coverage extension to add coverage back in cases where a carrier acts dishonestly, holds a load hostage, or simply steals it. While this coverage is still available, we now offer a second more comprehensive option to extend your contingent cargo coverage. This new offering has been created to address the ever growing problem of theft by impersonation. It will extend coverage to fraudulent pickups where you or any authorized party downstream from you such as a carrier or driver is impersonated to gain access to the load. This extension specifically addresses the fact that the party that the load is actually entrusted to will likely not be a legitimate carrier and the intended contract for carriage was therefore not begun.
