Customer Service Representative

Avalon Risk Management, a national insurance broker specializing in the international transportation industry, is looking for a full time highly motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit. You must have at least 2 years’ customer service experience in an office environment to provide support to our Account Managers and Account Executive team. We prefer candidates with some college-level coursework, especially in business or math. Position entails:

  • Support our Account Managers and assist in servicing our existing clients.
  • Assist with marketing submissions, giving shipment-specific insurance quotations, and preparing proposals.
  • Answer policy questions, update account changes, assist with premium collections, fielding phone calls, and more.
  • Basic working knowledge of Applied EPIC would be ideal along with excellent Word and Excel skills.

Account Manager - Miami, FL

Avalon Risk Management (“Avalon”) is looking for an upbeat, highly motivated self-starter to work for our Miami regional office. We are seeking candidates within Florida preferably in the Miami area who are productive in a remote environment and willing to meet periodically in person with our Miami team. Avalon is a specialty insurance broker with offices in major port cities throughout the country. We focus on the unique and exciting world of risk management and insurance products for the international trade and logistics industry. Responsibilities

As an Account Manager, candidates will be the primary contact for an assigned book of business. The Account Manager is responsible the following tasks and more:

  • Mastering all lines of business to provide assistance with the marketing of submissions
  • Giving shipment-specific insurance quotations
  • Preparing proposals, answering policy questions, updating account changes, managing the policy renewal process, and more customer service-related tasks
  • Providing support to our sales staff and perform client training as part of that support

    Requirements

    We are looking for candidates preferably with a college degree, with 3-5 years’ experience in the Commercial Lines insurance industry, and a valid FL Property & Casualty License. All candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position will require a strong work ethic and close attention to detail. We would prefer a candidate with Agency Management System experience (like AMS360 or Applied Epic) but will train as necessary.     Underwriting Assistant, MGA

    Avalon Risk Management, a national insurance broker specializing in the transportation industry, is looking for someone with strong interpersonal and organizational skills to assist our MGA Underwriting Team. The Administrative Assistant will assist our MGA department on a part-time or full-time basis with various support tasks for our clients and insurance markets. This non-exempt position reports directly to our Senior Underwriter and will work from our headquarters in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

    Our ideal candidate has 1-2 years’ general office and/or customer service experience; working in a commercial or personal lines insurance environment is a plus. The position requires excellent Word, Excel, Outlook and Access skills. Strong communication skills, including grammar and spelling strengths, must be demonstrated. We need someone with strong mathematical skills and a good eye for detail. Flexibility and the ability to multi-task will help you go far in this growing department.

    This position is clerical in nature and daily tasks will include data entry, scanning and communicating via e-mail to our various sales offices. In this role, the assistant works with our underwriting team on Access database tasks including data entry, running reports, performing merges, and creating policy documents. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills and be able to follow directions and work-flow procedures.

    Some of the responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

    • Assist in preparation for monthly renewals, non-renewals, cancellations, and reinstatements as assigned.
    • Process endorsements, print policies, run loss reports, etc. as requested or required.
    • Provide general customer service support: fielding phone calls and emails from clients, following up for accurate completion of forms, etc.
    • Assist with filings (new, cancels, etc.) as required.
    • Upload documents, do billing follow up, assist with mailings, emails, etc.
    • Assist with creating proposals, policies and endorsements as directed by the underwriting team for applicable lines of business.       Surety Claims Specialist - Elk Grove Village, IL

      Avalon Risk Management, an international trade-related insurance broker specializing in the transportation industry, is looking for an energetic Surety Claims Specialist interested in assisting our Claims department. This position reports directly to our Surety Claims Manager and will work in-Office from our headquarters in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

      We are looking for a team player who has an eye for detail, excellent analytical abilities, and is highly organized. Successful candidate must be able to appropriately handle high volume of claims files with proper prioritization and follow up. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. We are looking for candidates with 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service role (preferably not retail) and/or general office experience. Prior collections experience and some college coursework are a plus. Excellent follow up skills are a necessity and must be able to meet deadlines. Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be willing to be firm with insureds. Strong computer skills required especially with MS Word and Excel.

      A Surety Claims Specialist will assist our claims team with various reporting and filing needs. They also work with importers/principals to resolve issues related to Customs and miscellaneous bonds, which may involve asking for payment on the claim. Essential functions of this role include but are not limited to:

      • Internet searches for current addresses for importers with returned mail.
      • Faxing/emailing/calling Customs for status updates and to request case copies.
      • Assist with answering calls on claims line and provide claim forms to claimants via email or fax.
      • Evaluate Bond Programs (i.e. TIA) claims issued to our surety/trust companies through investigation, data gathering, researching regulations, etc.
      • Handle your claims with our established guidelines for each Surety/Trust- acknowledging claims, notifying client, recording claims data within appropriate systems and issuing payments when necessary.
      • Communicate with claimants, trustors/principals and CBP regarding claim files.
      • Draft claim denials to claimants based on claim research.
      • Handle CBP claims and in particular late files and recons to ensure timely resolution.
      • File petitions with CBP on claims when necessary.
      • A Claims Adjuster License will be required for this position within the first 180 days of employment (subject to class availability). Avalon will help obtain this license upon hire (and we bear most associated expenses).

This full-time exempt position reports directly to our Billing Manager. The position will work from our headquarters in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Avalon is looking for candidates with at least 2 years office experience predominantly in data entry/billing and customer service. Our Billing Specialists must have the capacity and initiative to problem solve; just following procedures is not enough.

        This position will require a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail. The candidate must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, follow instructions, have strong organizational, multi-tasking, and computer skills, with intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel.           Account Manager - Salem, MA

          Avalon Risk Management, an international trade-related insurance broker, is looking for a highly motivated self-starter Account Manager. The Account Manager will be the primary contact for our existing clients for all Avalon lines of business.

          Some of the responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

          • Mastering all lines of business to provide excellent customer service to all clients
          • Interacting with clients as the liaison for Account Executives and the Regional Manager or to facilitate other job responsibilities
          • Connect with clients for service needs, cross-selling, follow up/relationship building, etc. via direct contact, office visits, and/or at local association and industry functions
