CBP changes bond submission protocol effective July 1
|
|
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced several
changes to the bond submission process that will take place July 1, 2012. In
accordance with these updates, Avalon has proactively updated our Web Merlin™
secure Internet portal to ensure your compliance with CBP’s requirements.
Going forward, all bond submissions will need to cite one
of the following naming conventions in the email subject line:
- New Bond IR # |
- Deferred Tax IR # |
- Rider IR # |
- Bad Address IR # |
- Term IR # |
- Status IR # |
- T & R IR # |
- ISF IR # |
- Recon Rider IR # |
- Void IR # |
- USVI Rider IR # |
- Reject IR # |
- If the submission
does not fall under any of these categories, use Other IR # |
In addition, if a bond submission has a file attachment
that is larger than 10MB, the email message should be submitted as more than one
message. For example, the subject lines should read:
NEW BOND IR #11-111111100 (1 of 2) and NEW BOND IR #11-111111100 (2 of 2). The
same protocol should be followed if a bond submission has multiple activity
codes for the same importer.
CBP advises that if their new naming conventions are not
adhered to, the bond document review may be delayed. Again, to avoid any delays
in bond processing, Avalon’s Web Merlin portal has already been updated to
accommodate these changes.
Our Web Merlin portal was designed to support our client,
the customs broker. We continue to provide the best and most flexible surety
technology in the industry. Our exclusive features support your bond program,
including importer fraud protection, automated bond insufficiency notifications,
centralized bond filing and tracking, as well as management/entry reports. Web
Merlin also provides a single portal to manage all your Customs Bond and Cargo
Insurance transactions. Routine business activities are streamlined, with
revenue opportunities and efficiencies for you.
