Core Value: Family & Community
One of Avalon’s core values is Family & Community. We value
our work and strive to keep a balance between taking care of
business and taking care of and spending time with loved
ones. Avalon employees regularly gather outside of work for
community service and charity activities, and we are proud
to share their efforts with you:
Avalon Compassion Team
The Avalon Compassion Team (A.C.T.) was formed to coordinate
volunteer opportunities both nationally and locally. A.C.T.
members are fully committed to charitable events and helping
the community. The group plans events each quarter, with
additional opportunities throughout the year.
A.C.T. Mission Statement
To serve our community with compassion and “act” on
behalf of others to make a difference.
A.C.T. Vision
To meet the needs of individuals and families and
inspire others in our community to get involved.
St. Baldrick’s Foundation
A.C.T.’s first fundraising event took place on March 17 to
benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven
charity committed to funding research to find cures for
childhood cancers. Thanks to all who attended and pledged
their support to the families and children who suffer from
cancer. The event was full of fun and surprises, with head
shaving, raffle tickets, silent auctions, painting faces and
refreshments.
Make-A-Wish Foundation
In December, Avalon made a donation to the Make-A-Wish
Foundation on behalf of our employees, clients and business
colleagues. We granted the wish of a 9-year-old boy with
Chronic Respiratory Disease who wanted to go to Disney
World. In 2001, just as a baby, Rodney was diagnosed with a fatal disease of the airways and
other structures of the lung. Despite this painful disease,
Rodney remains in high spirits and hopes for a bright
future. During Christmas, Rodney and his family stayed at a
villa at Give Kids the World Village, a special resort for
children with medical conditions. To view a picture of
Rodney from his trip and read more about his story, please

Join us at TIA's Annual Convention for a 5k Fun Run/Walk
Avalon is proud to sponsor TIA's 5k Fun Run/Walk to benefit
the TIA Foundation. If you're heading to Orlando for the
conference, get ready to join us on Friday morning for a
brisk walk/run or come cheer participants on! A $50 entry
fee ($30 is tax deductible) covers your t-shirt and supports
the TIA Foundation and the charity of choice of the 2010 3PL
Samaritan Award winner.
