The Avalon Compassion Team (A.C.T.) was formed in 2010 to support our core values of Family and Community. A.C.T.’s mission is to serve the community with compassion and “act’ on behalf of others to make a difference. This holiday season, through A.C.T., Avalon has donated, on behalf of our clients, to Wreaths Across America.

Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization whose mission is to honor fallen U.S. Veterans and those who serve, so that we remember their sacrifices, lives lost, and the value of freedom. The organization works year-round to fulfill their mission. In December, their goal is to place a wreath on every single hero’s grave to show Veterans and their families that their sacrifice will not be forgotten. In 2021, more than 2.4 million wreaths were placed by volunteers on Veterans' headstones across the country.

This year, National Wreaths Across America Day is December 17, 2022. Wreaths Across America will be coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery as well as 3,500 other locations nationwide including Puerto Rico. The escort to Arlington National Cemetery kicks off this Sunday, December 10th and has planned stops along the weeklong trip. You can check here for the itinerary for the route.

Each year, volunteer trucking and logistics companies assist in delivering the wreaths to cemeteries throughout the country. According to the Wreaths Across America website, “The Escort to Arlington has grown to consist of twelve tractor-trailers representing [various companies and trucking associations]. These dedicated organizations and their professional drivers will haul a portion of the sponsored veterans’ wreaths heading to Arlington National Cemetery for placement on Saturday, Dec. 17.”
