Avalon Risk
Management's customers have experienced
the multiple advantages offered by
Marine MerlinTM in managing their Cargo
Insurance programs. This includes the
ability to automatically calculate
premiums and report claims online, to
name a few. The newest release of Merlin
v1.4 integrates denied party screening
into the program's automated certificate
generation workflow.
When users enter
consignee information, it is
instantaneously checked against a denied
persons database which includes all
restricted/denied lists of the United
States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany,
Japan and many others. The search
function saves time, effort and money by
preventing the manual checking of
ever-changing government lists and
publications.
Consignee
information will be pre-populated at the
customer level, and offer searching
under distinct processes: exact name
match, starts with, ends with and
contains (partial string). The option to
"not check for 90 days" is also
available for trusted and regularly-used
consignees. Importers and exporters
shipping to denied parties may be in
violation of government restrictions and
could have a fine leveled against them.
While Marine Merlin provides the denied
party screening, the program will not
refuse to insure any of these shipments.
Avalon exclusively
developed Marine Merlin to support our
clients' unique needs. The program
reduces the Errors and Omissions (E&O)
exposure that may occur through managing
a Cargo Insurance policy. In addition to
denied party screening, Marine Merlin
also assists in managing OFAC compliance
since embargoed OFAC countries are
automatically removed, prompting special
quote requests from Avalon. The program
also underwrites based on the commodity
and trade lane selected and automatically calculates the premium and
prints any special insuring terms on the
certificate.
